WOMEN ON WALLS

Women on Walls is a campaign from Accenture that seeks to make women leaders visible through a series of commissioned portraits that will create a lasting cultural legacy for Ireland.

As part os the first Women on walls Campaign In 2016 Blaise Smith was privileged to paint “8 scientists”, a portrait of eight leading Irish Scientists who are recipients of the European Research Council Starter Grants 2012 – 2015 and were chosen as representatives of a generation of outstanding young scientists working in Ireland today. The finished portrait is on public display in the Royal Irish Academy, the first portraits of female subjects to grace the walls in the Academy’s 230-year history.

This painting was highly acclaimed and went on to win the  Irish US Council Irish Arts Review portrait prize at the RHA in 2017.

He is currently working on a second Women on Walls portrait, this time for Dublin City University.
